Actuators
We offer a wide range of actuators from various manufacturers,
which, with different drive types – electric, pneumatic and hydraulic –
can be used for a wide variety of applications.
What are Actuators?
Actuators are used to enable automated movements and control of machinery, and thus offer a convenient alternative to manual operation. In industry and in automation technology, actuators are used in a wide range of applications, where they ensure the precise and reliable operation of valves, such as ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves or slide valves.
Construction and function:
Actuators consist of an actuator body with an integrated electric, pneumatic or hydraulic gearbox, integrated control units and a housing.
The actuator body converts the energy source into mechanical motion, which is transmitted to the valve. The gearbox optimises power transmission and adapts the speed and torque to the requirements of the specific application. The integrated control unit enables precise control and monitoring of the switching process. The housing protects the internal components from environmental influences and ensures stable and safe operation.
Typical operating modes range from pure control mode (open-close operation/Class A) through positioning mode (inching/Class B) to control mode (modulating operation/Class C) with model-based or open-loop control.
Depending on the type of movement, a distinction is made between rotary, quarter-turn or linear actuators
- Rotary actuators
... generate a rotational movement over at least one full turn, but usually several turns, and are particularly suitable for large valves with high loads due to their sensitive, precise positioning and control over a wide travel range. - Quarter-turn actuators
… produce a rotational movement over a limited specific angular range, usually 90 degrees, and are ideal for the rapid opening and closing of ball valves, butterfly valves and plug valves, or for simple flow control. - Linear actuators:
… produce a linear pushing or pulling motion and are typically used to open, close or regulate valves whose sealing element moves linearly, such as gate valves, globe valves or butterfly valves.
Our actuators are designed to provide a robust and reliable solution for controlling industrial valves. They are available in various sizes and power ratings to reliably control both small and large valves. The materials are designed for durability to withstand the demanding conditions of industrial environments.
The choice of the right actuator depends on the specific requirements of the application, such as the required torque, the actuation time and the environmental conditions.
Electric Actuators
... use electric motors to generate motion. They are ideal for applications that require precise control and, where necessary, a short response time. The motors can be powered by direct current, alternating current or three-phase current, depending on requirements. Our electric actuators offer easy integration into automation systems, enable precise positioning (including intermediate positions) and convenient remote control, and are energy-efficient.
Pneumatic Actuators
... use compressed air to generate motion. They are particularly suitable for applications requiring fast movements and high force with low maintenance requirements. Our pneumatic actuators are lightweight, compact, robust and cost-effective. They are easy to install and well-suited for use in harsh industrial environments. A major advantage of pneumatic actuators is the ability to combine them with spring return mechanisms (emergency open/emergency close).
Hydraulic Actuators
… use fluid pressure to generate motion. They are ideal for applications requiring very high forces and short response times. By using hydraulic oil, these actuators can move heavy loads. They are also extremely compact, robust and durable. Our hydraulic actuators offer high power density and are capable of operating reliably even under demanding conditions.
Advantages:
Our actuators enable the automation of processes, enhance safety and conserve resources.
They are characterised by their high reliability, durability, low-maintenance design and precise control. Furthermore, our customers benefit from safe and trouble-free operation across all applications.
The actuators we offer are compatible with most of our valves and can be easily and conveniently retrofitted into existing systems. Integration into process control systems is also straightforward. Furthermore, they can be remotely controlled and provide feedback on positions and faults. For valves in hard-to-reach locations, such as shafts, ceilings and remote installations, they offer the ideal solution, thereby significantly reducing the time and manpower required.
The choice of different actuator types allows for tailor-made solutions to meet a wide range of requirements.
Areas of application:
Our actuators are used in a wide range of industries, including heating and refrigeration technology, as well as the chemical, petrochemical, energy, food and beverage sectors.Types of Actuators
